JATA Board President, Lezlie Bowles, Honored by Human Relations Commission

Lezlie Bowles was recently recognized by the City of Jackson’s Human Relations Commission with the 2023 Diversity Award at the annual Harold White Diversity, Inclusion & Volunteer Awards Breakfast. Award recipients were selected by a HRC committee after a nomination process. Awardees are selected based on their efforts to improve the community in their respective categories. Award winners reflect the legacy of Harold White in supporting the community and making Jackson a place where everyone can thrive.

Lezlie Bowles serves as the Diversity Liaison for Baker College’s Jackson Campus and as Board President for the Jackson Area Transportation Authority. Bowles has a distinguished career as an educator and community engagement specialist. During her multi-faceted career as a teacher, principal, college professor and liaison, Bowles has been instrumental in promoting educational access and fostering diversity. Lezlie is also an active member of the Juneteenth Committee, contributing to Jackson’s awareness and celebration of diversity.
