Part Time Bus Drivers
The Jackson Area Transportation Authority (JATA), a mid-size public transportation entity, is now hiring. JATA is accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Bus Drivers. Minimum qualifications: Possess, or ability to obtain, a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and passenger endorsements, ability to interact professionally with the general public, ability to read, speak and write English at a level necessary to perform the duties of the position, be able to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screen, possess a good driving record, and be at least 21 years of age.
Part-Time Parts Clerk
Maintain appropriate stock levels, while obtaining parts for stock and vehicles as needed. Research competitive prices, complete yearly inventory and reports, and work with auditors. Keep every and all records necessary for functions associate with maintenance such as, parts, fuel, work orders, and mechanical hours. Answer all telephone calls, assign mechanics/utility workers to road calls and bus changes and receive all sales people. Log purchase orders into the computer, assist Finance Director in processing all receivers, invoices and statements. Provide vehicle mileage and other pertinent information needed for reports. Must have experience in an automotive, truck or bus department. Must be familiar with the use of computers, printers, copy machines and fax machines. Must possess good oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of part inventories, working with parts and a part price book, ordering parts and knowing the process of purchase orders and receivers. This will be a part-time position with no more than 25 hours per week.
Full-Time Dispatcher & Downtown Transfer Center Attendant position
Full-Time Dispatcher / T.C Attendant position To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each principal responsibility to the satisfaction of JATA management. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Familiar with state and federal funding parameters and requirements. Ability to think independently, make decisions, and act on those decisions.
Heavy Duty Maintenance Technician
Essential Job Qualifications: - Must have functional use of arms, legs, hands and fingers. - High school graduate or equivalent. - Must possess or have the ability to obtain a class A Commercial Drivers license- air brake, passenger and tow truck endorsements. - Must be able to qualify for employment by successfully passing a D.O.T. physical and drug screen. - Must have a minimum of one year formal mechanics training or three years experience as a mechanic working in an organized shop. - Experience working on busses or trucks preferred. - Possess or have the ability to obtain Michigan State Mechanic certification up to and including Master Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic - (A.S. E. certification recognized). - Ability to fill out necessary paperwork/input information into computer after work is completed - Must possess minimum tools set as determined by JATA. - Must be willing to learn and do Auto Body Repairs. - Must be able to be able to operate a forklift and obtain a forklift license General Duties: - Perform P.M. inspections on company vehicles. - Accomplish all minor and major repairs on company vehicles and equipment. - Road service calls. - Mount & Dismount Tires - Vehicle subsystem repair and rebuild.(engine, trans., generator, starter, A.C. etc..) - Bus, truck, car and equipment surface preparation and repainting. - Brake drum and rotor refinishing. - Snow removal, Main facility and transfer center. - Open or close maintenance area. - Other duties as assigned.Utility Worker
The Jackson Area Transportation Authority (JATA) is currently looking to fill the position of Utility Worker. Applicants must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a Class B with Passenger Endorsement CDL license, have a good driving record, and be able to pass a DOT physical and drug test. Applications are also available at the JATA Main Facility, located at 2350 E. High St., Jackson, MI 49203, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM.
