Part Time Bus Drivers
The Jackson Area Transportation Authority (JATA), a mid-size public transportation entity, is now hiring. JATA is accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Bus Drivers. Minimum qualifications: Possess, or ability to obtain, a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and passenger endorsements, ability to interact professionally with the general public, ability to read, speak and write English at a level necessary to perform the duties of the position, be able to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screen, possess a good driving record, and be at least 21 years of age.
Rides-to-Wellness Dispatcher
The Jackson Area Transportation Authority (JATA) is hiring a Dispatcher to support the Rides to Wellness program. This role coordinates transportation services for individuals with specialized mobility needs by scheduling rides, monitoring drivers, handling calls and emails, determining eligibility, and managing referrals through the Jackson Care Hub. Candidates should have a high school diploma (associate degree preferred), 1–2 years of customer service or related experience, strong communication and organizational skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. A valid Michigan driver’s license, DOT physical, drug screen, and background check are required. This position works in a standard office setting with occasional light lifting. Part-Time Parts Clerk
Maintain accurate inventory levels by ordering and organizing parts for stock and vehicle needs. Research competitive pricing, assist with annual inventory and audits, and keep detailed records related to parts, fuel usage, work orders, and mechanic hours. Answer incoming calls, assign maintenance staff to road calls and bus changes, and coordinate with vendors and sales representatives. Enter purchase orders into the system and support the Finance Director with processing receivers, invoices, and statements. Provide vehicle mileage and other required data for reports. Candidates should have experience in an automotive, truck, or bus parts department, be proficient with standard office equipment, and have strong communication skills. Familiarity with inventory systems, parts ordering, and purchase order processes is essential. This is a part-time position, not to exceed 25 hours per week.
Heavy Duty Maintenance Technician
Essential Job Qualifications: - Must have functional use of arms, legs, hands and fingers. - High school graduate or equivalent. - Must possess or have the ability to obtain a class A Commercial Drivers license- air brake, passenger and tow truck endorsements. - Must be able to qualify for employment by successfully passing a D.O.T. physical and drug screen. - Must have a minimum of one year formal mechanics training or three years experience as a mechanic working in an organized shop. - Experience working on busses or trucks preferred. - Possess or have the ability to obtain Michigan State Mechanic certification up to and including Master Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic - (A.S. E. certification recognized). - Ability to fill out necessary paperwork/input information into computer after work is completed - Must possess minimum tools set as determined by JATA. - Must be willing to learn and do Auto Body Repairs. - Must be able to be able to operate a forklift and obtain a forklift license General Duties: - Perform P.M. inspections on company vehicles. - Accomplish all minor and major repairs on company vehicles and equipment. - Road service calls. - Mount & Dismount Tires - Vehicle subsystem repair and rebuild.(engine, trans., generator, starter, A.C. etc..) - Bus, truck, car and equipment surface preparation and repainting. - Brake drum and rotor refinishing. - Snow removal, Main facility and transfer center. - Open or close maintenance area. - Other duties as assigned.Utility Worker
The Jackson Area Transportation Authority (JATA) is currently looking to fill the position of Utility Worker. Applicants must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a Class B with Passenger Endorsement CDL license, have a good driving record, and be able to pass a DOT physical and drug test. Daytime Utility – Facilities Maintenance
The Daytime Utility employee, under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of JATA facilities—primarily the Transfer Center. This includes daily janitorial work, outdoor upkeep, seasonal tasks, and event support. Key duties include cleaning restrooms and public areas, sweeping and mopping floors, emptying trash, maintaining windows and passenger shelters, and keeping grounds tidy year-round. Seasonal responsibilities involve mowing, snow removal, and salting sidewalks. The role also supports minor repairs, maintains supply rooms, and assists with event setup and general maintenance. High school diploma or equivalent. At least one year of janitorial or maintenance experience preferred. Valid Michigan Driver’s License .Ability to pass a D.O.T. physical and drug screening. Must be able to complete reports and maintain cleaning logs.
Work Conditions:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required.
