About Local Transportation Advisory Council (LTAC)


The Local Transportation Advisory Council (LTAC) is a council of consumers and interested parties who advise the Jackson Area Transportation Authority Board of Directors on public transportation issues relevant to seniors and persons with disabilities. In accordance with 1951 PA 51, 50% of the membership of the LTAC must be seniors or persons with disabilities. Membership terms are two (2) years and have staggered expiration dates. LTAC’s primary goals are to:

  • Provide input, review and comment on the Vehicle Accessibility Plan as required by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT)
  • Generate discussion, interpretation, and recommendations to the board regarding any senior adults and persons with disabilities related issues of a significant nature.
  • Council will work with JATA liaison and Executive Director to ensure the achievement of the organizations goals and objectives.
