JATA’s Rider Appreciation Week Returns After 3 Year COVID Break

The Jackson Area Transportation Authority is excited to announce the return of our annual Rider Appreciation Week, May 15th-May 19th, celebrated in correlation with National Transportation Week. This week-long celebration of the riders of JATA returns after a 3-year COVID pause and will include a Ribbon Cutting, giveaways, free popcorn, and prizes from select community partners.

The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce will kickoff Rider Appreciation Week with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 12pm on Monday, May 15th at our Downtown Jackson Transfer Center, located at 137 W. Cortland St. The public, local dignitaries, and the media are encouraged to attend the ceremony.

“Our riders are appreciated and should be celebrated,” says JATA Executive Director Michael Brown. “Without passengers, our organization ceases to exist. Therefore, it’s important to recognize and thank them for their continued trust in JATA to transport them to their various appointments and activities throughout Jackson County.”

Various Jackson County community partners will be on site to pass out organizational information, engage with riders, and raffle off prizes. Consumers Energy, Blue Ox Credit Union, American 1 Credit Union, AWARE, Home of New Vision, 106.9 Home.FM, and JTV are a few of the organizations participating in Rider Appreciation Week.

JATA staff will be serving hot dogs, beverages, and FREE popcorn daily between the hours of 10am-4pm.
